What it is, why people enjoy it & how to prepare
Boudoir is a type of photography session that focuses on the individual's empowerment through vulnerability and strength. These sessions are intimate, oftentimes outfits consist of lingerie or nothing at all. The purpose of these sessions is to build confidence and appreciation of one's own body, sexuality, etc...
Boudoir is unlike any other type of photography. It's dynamic, intimate, and can be life-changing for many. Boudoir allows individuals to see themselves as others do-- beautiful, strong, and sexy. It's incredibly healing and a ton of fun! Some people also choose to use boudoir photos as gifts for significant others, but the true gift is to themselves (so win-win).
These sessions can be much more nerve-racking than a traditional portrait session so it's important to mentally prepare yourself for it. Some ways to do that are by practicing the mirror exercise (that I explained in a previous blog), shifting your internal monologue and mindset on confidence, practicing at home, chatting with me about it more, etc...
Boudoir can be scary, I get it. However, if you are even slightly considering it please reach out! I have never EVER had a boudoir client tell me they regretted our session even a tiny bit. Most of my past clients have thanked me endlessly for helping them see their bodies in a new light. Many have cried with me, told me their therapists thanked me and cheered with me in joy.
If you have any questions about boudoir, feel free to send me a message! I am happy to walk you through the process-- no expectations.
