Their Story

LIA + HAZEL

In August of 2021, sweet 9 year old Lia fell off the trampoline and got a concussion. When they got the CT scan back, they saw something else (unrelated) and sent her to Primary Children’s for more testing.

A parents worst nightmare was confirmed when Lia was diagnosed with a rare, and serious progressive disease called MLD - Metachromatic leukodystrophy.

Lia will need lots of treatments including a bone marrow transplant, chemo, radiation, and gene therapies.

Their family has spent the last month waiting in agony for the next steps hoping that one of her sisters would be a match.

On September 14 2021, the nightmare continued as they confirmed that their baby, Hazel, also has MLD and their middle sister Olivia is a carrier (so she does not qualify to be be a donor).

Hazel will also need the treatments, and therapies that Lia will receive.

This family needs our help and support as they spend the next year separated from each other and fighting for their lives. It will be an extremely emotional and physical journey.

Please lift the Christensen family in PRAYERS, and consider donating if you are financially able.
